According to the Head of Rospatent Grigory Ivliev, the functioning of the single trademark system of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) should be expanded to countries that have ratified the Eurasian Patent Convention. A single trademark is needed not only for the EAEU states, the next step should involve the introduction of a single trademark for all member states of the Eurasian Patent Organization. “Therefore, our Eurasian Patent Office should cover one more type of intellectual property objects. This would involve a deeper level of integration than what we have now when we introduce the single trademark in the Eurasian Economic Union. But these are probably the necessary steps: first, the five countries of the Eurasian Economic Union decide on integration, then the other countries join in.” |
