On April 14, 2021, Rospatent, UNESCO Chair on Copyright, Related, Cultural and Information Rights of the Higher School of Economics and Russian Copyright Society (RAO) held the International Conference on the Copyright-Related Legal Issues in Industrial Property in a hybrid format.

The participants discussed topical issues related to the protection of intellectual property rights, interrelations between legal protection of copyrights, trademarks and industrial designs, protectability of trademarks that comprise copyrights, patentability of industrial designs that comprise means of individualization. The Conference also covered prospects for using blockchain technology to protect intellectual property rights in scientific, literary, and artistic works, trademarks, and industrial designs.

The head of Rospatent Grigory Ivliev called for improving the intellectual property system to solve current issues related to the protection of copyrights and industrial property rights. In his view, this would help to reduce the number of IP-related legal disputes. He also emphasized the importance of invention incentives.
