The Head of Rospatent Grigory Ivliev spoke at the round table “Economic Policy and Business Partnership: Current Opportunities and Principles of Interaction in Eurasia” at the Center for Social and Conservative Policy.

In his report, Mr. Ivliev stressed the growing importance of intellectual property (IP) in the midst of modern world, its defining importance for economic development of Russia and all countries on the territory of the former Soviet Union. Cooperation and integration are not limited to one platform, but cover the interaction within the EAPO, the Eurasian Economic Union and the CIS.

The Head of Rospatent outlined prospective areas of integration that would contribute to economic development of the regional countries, in particular, establishment of a common jurisdiction for contestation of titles of protection and adjudication of disputes in the field of IP instead of going through national procedures and also considering the importance of IP in pharmaceutics, the need to establish the Eurasian register of pharmacologically active substances protected by a patent of invention. The prototype of the register and the order of its maintenance has already been developed by Rospatent at the national level by the order of Mikhail Mishustin, the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
