On June 6, 2023 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan the delegation of Rospatent took part in the International Scientific Conference “Intellectual Property in the XXI Century: Trends and Achievements. 30 Years of Intellectual Property in Tajikistan”.

During the plenary session, Head of Rospatent Mr. Yury Zubov addressed the participants of the conference with a welcoming speech.

On the occasion of the anniversary of Tajikistan’s patent system, Rospatent and National Center for Patents and Information of Tajikistan (NPIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding which defines the principles and areas of cooperation between the Offices.

After the signing of the Memorandum, a bilateral meeting was held between the Head of Rospatent and the Director of the NPICenter Mr. Mirzo Ismoilzoda. The parties summarized the results of cooperation since the previous bilateral meeting in February 2023. The most promising areas of work have been identified, namely digitalization and information exchange, including further cooperation of patent libraries, as well as training of personnel in the field of IP. Issues related to the cooperation of the Offices within the WIPO and EAPO were raised.

The conference included presentations by the Federal Institute of Industrial Property representatives Tatiana Kuznetsova and Dmitry Zolkin, who presented Russian practices of involving young people in the field of intellectual property and the experience of digitalization of the Office.

The event was attended by First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Mr. Ashurboy Solehzoda, EAPO President Mr. Grigory Ivliev, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan Mr. Jamshed Jumakhonzoda, intellectual property Offices of Belarus, China, Moldova, as well as scientific and educational institutions of Tajikistan.

On the sidelines of the conference the Head of Rospatent held a number of bilateral meetings with representatives of Tajikistan.

During the meeting with the President of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Mr. Farhod Rakhimi the best practices of transfer of technologies from universities and research institutes to production were discussed, as well as the promotion of intellectual property among scientists.

At the meeting with the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Zavki Zavkizoda Mr. Yury Zubov presented Russian experience in supporting invention and innovative companies, including tax incentive measures. The positive nature of Russian-Tajikistani economic cooperation and the important role of intellectual property in this process were noted.
