The Sixty-Fourth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), one of the key events for IP offices, officially opened today.

President of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) Grigory Ivliev and Director General of WIPO Daren Tang held a meeting on the margins of the Assemblies. The parties discussed the implementation of a joint project for technoparks on rights management, capacity building projects, and priorities of the EAPO Development Program up to 2028. Significant attention was paid to the legal aspects of the accession of the Eurasian Patent Organization to the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs.

Grigory Ivliev highlighted destructive unilateral illegitimate measures and discriminatory policies against applicants, right holders and patent attorneys from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, who are refused proper IP services.

Grigory Ivliev and Daren Tang signed the Protocol amending the Agreement between the Eurasian Patent Organization and the World Intellectual Property Organization dated October 1, 1997. As the competence of the Eurasian Patent Organization has expanded, new areas of cooperation were added including cooperation in the field of industrial design protection, implementation of alternative dispute resolution procedures, as well as development of educational projects.

The cooperation in the field of IT and comprehensive use of all WIPO digital infrastructure services were identified as new and important components of the dialogue between Organizations.
